August Bebel School

My school's name's Europaschule August Bebel... and it's so called "Sekundarschule", what means the pupils are from 10 to 16 years old. That includes kids after the primary school till the first school exams (which usually take place after the 9th and 10th grade). The school system in Germany is quite complicated, so there's no need to describe it into detail right now.

Anyway, the school is European, which means, they are not only supported by the EU, they try to teach languages, cultures and make pupils aware of our Europe. Maybe more interesting is the fact, that it's a Comenius school, which means it has cooperative project with other European countries - or better, the schools in these countries and they visit each other, do things together...again a complicated thing supported by the EU involving interesting but tiring work :)

The problem with me and the school is, that it was joined with another school in September (because of obvious troubles with numbers of students and tendencies of decreasing number of citizens of this little town) and so, its whole philosophy is undergoing a tremendous exam. Old teachers "live with the school" and devote a lot to it, whereas not all of the new ones understand this. Anyway, it's been quite messy about my stay here and what exactly I should deal with. However, I like the fact, that the school provides the pupils a number of voluntary and free time activities - where also Slovak language and culture club belongs :)

More on that topic I'll write later....
